Xavier Jara

Xavier Jara

18, near Paris. I build software, train models and solder things. Graduated in 2026, now on a gap year working full-time on my own research and projects.

Research

Teaching a FLUX.2 VAE to see transparency

Image generators output opaque pictures because their VAE only has three colour channels. I widened the FLUX.2 Klein VAE to RGBA, fine-tuned it with a triple-background loss, then trained foreground-extraction LoRAs on top.

Work

Blob Canvas

App · Design tool

A Figma-like UI design tool that runs inside a game engine editor, built with designer Zack. 400 pre-orders and sign-ups before launch; the announcement video hit 55k views on X.

Other famous dev tools

Developer tools · 30k+ downloads

Scratchify Blox 3 (visual scripting, acquired), GUI Editor+ (the UI editor the engine should have shipped) and Blob Lite.

EMR tablet receiver In progress

Hardware

Reading a pen-tablet stylus myself: coil, driver and signal decoding. Before this, Arduino, ESP32 and STM32 projects.

Study app

App · Go, Flutter

Scan a notebook page or Wacom note and get a lesson, quiz or mind map via LLM-backed vector search. Shelved when NotebookLM came out, but I used it all through Terminale.

Homemade algorithms & AI

ML · Algorithms

Qwen VL fine-tunes for bounding-box grounding, invoice PDF to table with vision models, a Connect Four net, and neural-net car steering with my own pathfinding.

Where it started

Since 2020

A macOS menu-bar app for school grades, Flappy Bird on Apple Watch, a CO₂ calculator in Swift at 14, and real-time soft-body car physics that found an audience on YouTube.

Interests

Space

I keep up with space news: launches, missions and what's coming next.

AI

I read papers and teach myself the field by building and training things.

UI design

I read about it, follow what's new, and design my own interfaces, like this site.

Let's build something.

Internships, research collaborations, or just an interesting problem.
